Cake Plate Simplicity

Remember all those dishes that I recently acquired at a garage sale? Well, I came up with a fun way to repurpose them - cakes plates. It was soooo simple. I used a two pairs of crystal candle holders and some epoxy and I had instant cake plates. Then, I topped them with cheese domes turned cloches which I picked up for next to nothing at the thrift store and I am ready to entertain.
A FUN TIP: You could make one of these and take it to a party filled with hors doeuvres and leave the cake plate for the hostess as a gift. How fun it that?

  1. What a wonderful idea! They are so delightfully pretty. And ready for anything you want to put in them. Be it food or just something for fun!

  2. I've seen this before & think it's a great idea! Somehow I always end up with mismatched crystal candlesticks and plates/platters. Thanks for sharing. You should link up to http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ for Metamorphosis Monday.

  10. Lovely post! Love the wired art ....will have to make that! As for the tiers,I do this all the time, but when I use them for myself, I use scrapbooking dots to hold the pieces together, then I can always take them apart and use them for others. TTFN Warm Hugs...Linda

  11. What a winsome idea! I never would have thought of it. This way you can make all different kinds of cake plates that are unique, instead of buying the ordinary ones at the store, which are quite pricey, in my opinion.

Great idea about making one, taking it filled with goodies and leaving it as a gift for the hostess....
